OOTD and random snippets from The Humble Bungalow

Our weekend harvest of home grown vegetables in Mr. HB's new wooden Trug.

The Trug looks very much "at home" with the wooden cutting boards.

Mr. HB tends to the veggies in the garden and grows tomatoes in his greenhouse.

The tomatoes are so tasty and sweet,
nothing like those that you find in the grocery stores.
The potatoes were amazing too...we ate them for dinner last night.

Love being able to go outside and harvest some home grown veggies.

After much consideration and testing many samples I was finally able to chose a rose fragrance...the one that I opted for is Le Labo Rose 31.

It was a time consuming exercise testing all the samples.
Some were too sweet, some too strong,  and one made me break out in hives and I had a rash with a couple of other ones which was a surprise as I have never had a reaction to any perfume before.

Le Labo makes a "natural product" that is compounded fresh at the retailer
 when one places the order.
Nordstrom's Fragrance Department in Vancouver were extremely helpful.
They sent me all the samples for free.

I received the scent promptly after placing my order and a few samples of Le Labo Rose 31 lotion and shower gel were included.

The scent is subtle and can be worn by both women and men.

It is a subtle fragrance and layering the lotion with the eau de parfum makes it last longer.

Fall is in the air and our furnace came on this weekend when it rained.
We need the rain badly as there are forest fires still burning in our province
and the gardens are looking quite parched.

With the change of season comes the change of clothes from the out of season closet downstairs and swapping out the summer things in our bedroom closet.
Some pieces overlap and are worn all year long.

I do not have a huge list of things to replace.
(or a big budget)
I did get rid of a pair of basic grey pants last Spring...
they had lost their shape and the seat pouched out making them look shabby...
having worn them for 2 or 3 seasons they had served me well and owed me nothing.

I went out and did a wee bit of shopping this past Sunday
after our family brunch
and the beach play time with the grandchildren.

OOTD
NYDJ boyfriend jeans
Cupio tank top
OM3 jersey jacket
Jungla shoes

OOTD without the jacket.

Calvin Klein sturdy skinny knit pants
a wide elastic waistband with a slim line
no extra details to add bulk
smooth across the tummy
I like these very much!

Gap long sleeved top
a basic in a neutral shade that is very soft and will be cozy for Fall and Winter.
Great for layering under my vests.

Patterned Mod-O-Doc tunic top in black, grey and white that will be paired with the skinny knit pants.

All three items totalled $130
plus they can be worn with several other things already hanging in my closet.

Machine washable
 hang to dry
which extends their life
keeps them looking new as long as possible.

Still on my list for Fall and Winter are a new pair of black leather Chelsea boots.
I wore out my last pair...
which is not surprising
because I must have worn them 5 days out of 7 for the past 2 years!

The weight loss regime continues...
I have lost 6.8 pounds in the past few weeks.

Eating lower WW point count food and not drinking wine
coupled with more exercise has finally paid off.

It's hard work and dedication that make the difference.

It is my hope that the losing will continue and that the scale will reflect my efforts.
The goal is to get back to my WW goal of 132 pounds which is at the top of the WW weight range for someone my height.

If I eventually weigh 135 I will be content...
132 would be amazing.

My heart goes out to the people affected by the recent wild weather events.
The devastating earthquake in Mexico and that powerful hurricane Irma.

There are so many things that are beyond our control.

Watching the news it is encouraging the way that people are helping each other get through these troubled times.

Hope that your week is off to a great start.

Brava for you and your weight loss-you were really disciplined and you deserve it
Bravo for Mr. HB and veggies-such a beautiful wooden Trug-is it heavy?
I don't know this scent but believe that it must be lovely
White tops are my favourites during the whole year,so I like your new wardrobe additions

Three points in response to this post:
1. You look amazing! Your WW regime is paying off, and quickly!
2. That trug is gorgeous.
and
3. So glad you picked my Rose perfume recommendation. I love the Rose 31 -- now we're perfume twins across the Salish Sea ;-)

The trug is so beautiful, and highly original, never seen one like that. Your produce looks so healthy and appealing, and must be delicious as so fresh. I love your patterned tunic top very much, really very stunning and versatile. Congrats on the weight loss, as a short person I know how hard you work to achieve that.

Congratulations on the weight loss. It isn't easy!
Rose is always a good idea.

Looking lovely! It's nice to see real-life photos from the dressing room -- you made some great choices. Especially love the patterned tunic, would you share the brand?

I'm convinced! I'm going to cut out wine for a while. You look very trim in your new clothes.
I'm leaving for New York n Tuesday. My daughter does not drink and my friend has quit so it will be Perrier with lemon. Your trug with the cutting boards is a lovely kitchen addition.

Love the new garden trug! And, congratulations for loosing so much weight. Your new clothes are very becoming.

I love that trug, and all the small things we can do to heighten our enjoyment of the basic required tasks of life. Congrats on the weight progress, I think it's visible, which must be a good reinforcement to persist! Your new clothes are fun, casual, comfortable, and stylish. What more could one want?

The WW regime works if one sticks to the rules and counts the points...
The Trug is very light when it has no veggies inside it...the tomatoes are pretty light too but the potatoes are solid.
White tops are very versatile and I have 3 vests to layer over top of it when it gets cold and I can always add a warm scarf.

Thank you mater!
The Rose 31 scent is light but lovely...and now I am quite taken with the lotion!
Nice to find something that is not full of harsh ingredients too.

I think these Trugs originate in the UK...as do many of the beautiful garden accessories that we love. We need to replace our old wheel barrow and I would love to find a vintage wooden one with a big metal front wheel.
Being short and overweight is something that I struggle with and have done so for many years...even when I was younger.

It isn't easy as you say but really I should know better than to slip back into old habits...the eating regime and lifestyle change that I made when I went to WW several years ago worked and I let it slip and now I am paying the price!

The dressing room is a fun place to take photos...such good lighting and a large mirror two things that I do not have here in The Humble Bungalow!
The tunic top is by Mod-O-Doc...a company that is new to me.

Giving up wine seems to have helped me...I know when I first went to WW we were instructed to be alcohol free for the first while...the liver really is the fat burner in the body so it makes sense to keep it in fine form. Let me know how you make out...I started weighing myself everyday when I gave up alcohol and am totally shocked at the difference it has made!

Thank you Adrienne...garden tools and accessories are fun items to aid us in our chores....beautiful watering cans, sprinklers and lovely pots all make gardening much more elegant!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

It's true these little accessories make for a more enriched gardening experience...
if the weight loss is already visible that is encouraging! I don't see it yet but my clothes are looser.
Hope that you are enjoying your new writing project and thank you again for the shout on on the blog...I have more visitors popping by because of your mention!

Oh my! My goodness that is sweet of you to say.
Merci beaucoup Jerrine

Vests of various weights are a staple in my wardrobe. They are my go to for travel. Even a light weight one can make a cool day or evening passable. They layer so well.

I love that trug and will be looking for one now! You look great and I admire your giving up wine. I used to wear Le Labo Santal, but all fragrances turn on me now - I give up. Glad you found something you love.

Great new clothes. Can you share where you got the CK pants (love!) and the jersey jacket?

You look fantabulous!
Great job.

Congratulations on the weight loss. I have lost 4 pounds and am finding it hard and slow going. You look great in your new clothes. And I'm curious about that perfume. Sounds lovely.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I like vests too...they are cozy and in milder Fall weather they can be worn as outerwear.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Oh my! I didn't think the weight loss would be noticeable yet...this is encouraging!

XO Contessa!

The Trugs come in various sizes...I just finished watching an episode of the BBC Gardner's World with Monty Don and he had a huge one that he filled up with his branches that he was pruning !
Oh too bad that the scents are not staying true...that sounds frustrating but perhaps it is temporary?

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Aerin Lauder has some lovely rose fragrances right now...you might try some of them as they are just like a garden rose.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

The CK pants are from Marshalls and the jersey jacket is from a small boutique on Pender Island...the woman who owns it designs the pieces and has them made in Vietnam.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

So far so good...still more weight to go and hope it will continue in the right direction!

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

Congratulations to you Deborah! 4 pounds is a great achievement...you are working hard and doing a great job!

I'm wondering if you are on the old WW program or the new Beyond the ScaLe. I find this new one not as effective. I've been walking 5 miles a day, not having my two glasses of wine a week, drinking lots of water and haven't a thing! Thinking of going back to the old program-needless to say.

hostess of the humble bungalow said...

I am following the old program. It's the one that I know and it worked for me before so I figured it would work again and I am seeing results.
